Sending nightmares away

Dreamcatcher is probably one of those groups where you might not recognize all the members' faces and names, but you've at least listened to one of their songs before. Their unique band sound and distinctive tones make them stand out from the crowd – not to mention their successful "Nightmare" series concept. The mysterious girls explore between dreams and nightmares again in the special mini-album Raid of Dream.

Dreamcatcher is best known for their one-of-a-kind hard rock music that bears only a little resemblance to the usual K-pop tunes. Starting off with the funky dubstep Intro (Track 1), Raid of Dream carries the lead single Déjà vu (Track 2) mainly produced by LEEZ, who also wrote the group's Piri, You And I and "Over the Sky." Déjà vu begins with the members' mellow voices accompanied with piano notes in the first verse, and then breaks into a powerful heavy metal melody that also shows off the members' strong vocal skills. Fun fact, Dreamcatcher collaborated with mobile game King's Raid for the song's music video!

Co-produced by Ollounder and LEEZ, "The Curse of the Spider" (Track 3) is a rather upbeat song that explains the background of their "Nightmare" series: "That moment when I open my eyes, a mirage unfolds…. Yeah I was wrong, it's not over. I can't help you, it's okay, you're not alone. Promise you, yeah I promise you." It all goes back to their Prequel album, and I love how their albums, concepts, songs and lyrics are all connected! The producers also penned Silent Night (Track 4), which warns those who have stepped out of line to not get any closer.

After several rock plugs, perhaps it's nice to end the album with a soft ballad. "Polaris" (Track 5) is a romantic ballad about holding on to a lover even though they're far from each other: "Where are you now? Are you having the same thoughts as me? ... I'm fine even if it takes a long time, because I am following the Polaris that doesn't change."

To be honest, this is my first time listening to an entire Dreamcatcher album, but Raid of Dream totally lives up to my expectations. I will definitely go listen to their old releases!
