Following Master's Sun
and Oh My Venus
, So Ji Sub took on his third romantic comedy series in a row with My Secret Terrius
, and won his first ever Grand Prize at the 2018 MBC Drama Awards for his role as the calm and dull Kim Bon. Though the actor looks chic and cool on the outside, he surely has the skills to make you burst into laughter with his comedic timing. The best highlight of the drama is definitely the contrast between Kim Bon as both a former NIS agent and a babysitter in one drama. Of course, he looks charming in action scenes, but at the same time, he is endearing when interacting with the JoonJoon twins!
If So Ji Sub is the eye-catching point of My Secret Terrius, then Jung In Sun would totally be the hidden gem. In her first romcom lead role, she delicately portrays the strong, responsible, hard-working single mom Go Ae Rin. Her mischievous JoonJoon twins also bring innocence and joy to the drama despite the shady truth behind their father's death.
Son Ho Jun makes a rare antagonist turn as a swindler who has a fateful encounter with Go Ae Rin. Indeed, I put all my hate on his character in the first half of the drama, but as the story proceeded, I found him quite cute and changed my perceptions of him.
Apart from the leading actors, the success of My Secret Terrius can also be greatly attributed to the experienced actors in supporting roles. The iconic "KIS" (which stands for "Kingcastle Information System") formed by homemakers draws a parody of the real NIS agents in the drama. As efficient as the NIS, the KIS group members rapidly spread information among their neighbors and constantly save the lives of their children. Though they may look foolish sometimes, they always grab every piece of information and never let go of anything suspicious. What's Wrong With Secretary Kim breakout Kang Ki Young again shines in the romcom for his outstanding comedic performance as the only male in the KIS.
My Secret Terrius is the most enjoyable romantic comedy I've seen in a while. The whole cast of the drama is undoubtedly on point, and the chemistry between the characters is just fantastic. It doesn't have a complicated or deep plot at all, but it's definitely fun to watch the actors and their humorous lines and funny facial expressions!
