Seventeen Mini Album Vol. 6 - YOU MADE MY DAWN (Random Version)
Seventeen's dawn is hotter than day

Following You Make My Day in July, Seventeen returns in half a year with another "YMMD" album – You Made My Dawn. Unlike the funky and joyful tunes in the summer album, this new album presents six songs that are more sentimental. If you haven't noticed, the last track of You Make My Day is actually called Our Dawn Is Hotter Than Day, creating a fun correlation between the two records.

Seventeen comes back with the urban future R&B title track Home (Track 2) to tell their loved ones to lean on them "cause I'm your home, home, home, home." Every verse starts with a tranquilizing ambience, and then gradually turns to a contrasting powerful sound. The constant change of beats and highs and lows in melody make Home an interesting and addictive plug. Won Woo's deep voice to lead off the second chorus is definitely a highlight of this track.

The group first revealed "Getting Closer" (Track 6) in a spectacular performance at MAMA 2018 in Hong Kong. They then performed it several times at year-end ceremonies, which created high anticipation for their comeback. The hip-hop R&B track gave a strong impression to audiences due to its edgy vibe that totally differs from the cutesy Oh My!. "Getting Closer" also reminds of their Boom Boom and Clap eras.

As usual, Seventeen prepared songs tailor-made for each unit. The vocal team's "Hug" (Track 3) has to be my favorite as it thoroughly shows the honey voices and vocal qualities of the members. When it comes to the main vocalists of the group, Seung Kwan, DK and Woo Zi would usually come to our mind. Joshua and Jeong Han are often underrated as vocal unit members, but their sweet and soothing voices stand out the most in "Hug." Before going to bed, try putting on earphones to enjoy and appreciate this beautiful serenade.

The performance team members make their first attempt at the Moombhaton genre in Shhh (Track 5). While listening to the song, you can already imagine the dazzling, eye-catching choreography created specially for it. S. Coups, Won Woo, Min Gyu and Vernon explore the pun "Chilli" in their hip-hop unit track (Track 4), for which Vernon is the primary composer. They produced the rhythmic track that revolves around both hot pepper "chili" and the "chilly" wind. Round of applause for their wit and creativity!

You Made My Dawn, as a whole, presents a music style and ambience that varies from that of You Make My Day. True to the theme, the album carries a series of trendy, sentimental tracks that are suitable to enjoy at dawn.
