The below rankings are based on sales of movie, music and TV releases on YesAsia.com from January 1 to June 30, 2019. Sales of all editions and versions of the same title are summed up to determine the total sales and ranking of each title.
2019 Billboard Music Awards Top Group winner – and YesAsia's top seller for the past three years –
BTS dominates again as the #1 bestseller in the first half of the year with
Map of The Soul: Persona. With their growing global popularity,
Monsta X and
BLACKPINK also secure positions on the K-pop chart alongside
Twice and
Seventeen. Fast-rising rookies
Stray Kids and
Loona foray into the chart at #2 and #3, while
Dreamcatcher and
GFriend successfully break into the top ten albums for the first time.
SHINee's
Tae Min is surprisingly the only soloist and SM artist to rank in the top ten.
Celebrating their 20th anniversary this year,
Arashi affirms their status as the kings of J-pop with their best-of album, which is #1 on our chart and sold over 1.3 million copies in Japan. Meanwhile, Korean-Japanese super rookie group
IZ*ONE makes a strong debut at #5 with their first single. K-pop idols take the remaining eight spots of the Japanese music bestsellers chart, with
NCT 127's first album and

Twice and
BLACKPINK rank high, as does
Tae Yeon with her Japan debut.
Perennial bestseller
Sammi Cheng effortlessly tops the C-pop chart with her
Sammi By My Side Birthday Gig Live concert. Taiwan diva
Jolin Tsai takes the #2 spot with
Ugly Beauty, which was recently recognized as Album of the Year at the 30th Golden Melody Awards. Hong Kong singers, including familiar names like

Alan Tam, handily dominate the majority of the chart.

Kay Tse's hit collaboration
the album part one comes in at #8, while

Danny Chan also makes an appearance with an album boxset.
The Donnie Yen-less
Ip Man spin-off
Master Z starring

Shadow at #5, and Hong Kong cinema nostalgia elevates
Young and Dangerous reunion fest
Golden Job and
Jackie Chan's
Super Cop Blu-ray to the top ten. Romcom classic
My Sassy Girl is the sole Korean representative on the chart at #9, thanks to its long-coveted Blu-ray release. Indie filmmaker
Scud continues to be the wild card with his latest queer art film cracking into the top ten, but the biggest surprise is
Lost in the Fumes – the documentary about jailed Hong Kong activist Edward Leung edges its way to #3 in these politically charged times.
It may be 2019 already, but the best-selling TV dramas at the half-year mark are actually the same three titles as
2018's first-half bestsellers. This time, Chinese period fantasy
Eternal Love takes the lead over K-Dramas
Goblin and
Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Two other 2018 top sellers,
Legend of Fuyao and
While You Were Sleeping, have also stuck around. Among newer releases, EXO members prove their popularity with
100 Days My Prince starring
D.O. and
Rich Man starring
Su Ho coming in fourth and fifth.
Lee Seung Gi's post-army comeback drama
A Korean Odyssey and
Zhou Xun's TV comeback
Ruyi's Royal Love In The Palace also make the top ten cut.
